Driving up Centenniel Dr. in Berkeley early this morning, there was next to
the road large flock of turkey youngsters with adults and one young deer
with them. (Mama didn't appear to be around). I stopped to count the turkeys
(3 adults, 16-18 young) but the most interesting thing was the deer
interaction with the Turkeys. As the flock moved along browsing so did the
deer, then it began bounding and prancing at the edge of the flock up and
down the length of it several times. It sprang up onto it's hind legs and
bounded into the air many times. To my eyes it appeared to be playful
behavior, as puppies do when trying to entice others to play.
