     Hello all:
    FYI
I am in London for a year, so this might be old news to you. I find it shocking, the ignorance of some people. A radio station has t-shirts available promoting the notion of killing the endangered species, the Ivory Billed Woodpecker! Someone burned down the observation tower.
The radio stations information at the end of this e-mail.

It mentions that the Observation Trestle was burned.
The issue appears to be real. There's an assortment of paraphernalia on the
Corey and Jay website with the woodpecker graphics.
The trestle issue is also legit:

Some years back, legal action was nearly taken against a college
forestry club at a major school in Mississippi for the production of
    anti-Red-cockaded Woodpecker t-shirts ("kill a pecker, save a
forester"). According to Jerry Jackson there was the potential for
serious legal action because of the stated intent to harm a federally
protected species. The club stopped production of the shirt before any
action was carried out. Not knowing the boundary between freedom of
speech and intent to destroy an endangered species myself, it will be
interesting to see if actions could/will be filed against these people.

I was made aware of the website below where Corey and Jay, DJs on radio
station 100.3, are selling products promoting the getting rid of the
    Ivory-billed woodpecker.

Under free press they are most likely legally able to get away with
    this.
I consider it irresponsible and think they need to be convinced that
    this
is not a funny nor a wise thing to promote.

The recovery of the Ivory-billed woodpecker will be difficult enough
without this. With 50% of the population below average intelligence,
    there
is a big resource base for some idiots to adopt this as a serious cause.
With the burning of the observation trestle, we know that such
    sentiments
    already exists without further encouragement.
