All,
I led my Palo Alto Adults School birding group to Mitchell Canyon
today. In addition to the many expected species there was a lone
MACGILLIVRAY'S WARBLER along the only significant incline leading along
the creek (perhaps 300 yards from the lot) and 3-4 HERMIT WARBLERS,
both male and female, in the first major chaparral slope (on the left
going up the main trail). Sightings of CASSIN'S VIREOS were fewer than
last week, but still 3-4 birds detected. Our two WESTERN TANAGERS were
higher up on the trail. LAZULI BUNTINGS and BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAKS were
hard to miss.
