On Sunday, May 22, my husband and I observed what appeared to be a =
female
Mountain Bluebird with a fledgling on the fence at MP Marker 7 along Del
Puerto Canyon Rd in the late afternoon. The female had no reddish color =
on
her underparts and the blue in the wings and tail was the =93sky blue=94 =
color
that I associate with the Mountain Bluebird. The adult bird also had =
the
longer, slimmer profile of the Mountain Bluebird, not the somewhat =
chunky,
hunched over look of the Western Bluebird. The young bird was heavily
scalloped on the underparts with a noticeable white eyering. I thought =
that
the Mountain Bluebirds would be long gone by now and getting ready to =
nest
in the mountains. Comments?

We also finally saw the Yellow-breasted Chat along the riparian area =
east of
Frank Raines County Park. It was moving among the bushes that parallel =
the
road (back a ways from the road) and was observed from the new double =
red
metal gate about =BE - 1 mile east of the park. It was singing =
sporadically
which helped to locate it.
