Since the planted oaks have been maturing in Lime Ridge Open Space, now
about 10-15 ft. tall, - extending around the upper rim of the 'meadow' - we
seem tobe getting a more diverse bird population. Saw a Bullock's Oriole (at
his nest) in a Black Walnut today. And this was the first time I'd seen a
Bullock's this year (4/6/05). Ehrlich's Birder's Handbook says they take 4.5
days minimum to build a nest - that was still fast. Didn't have my camera at
the time. But I hope to return soon. Doubt that this Bullock's will find a
mate for this nest, since it was near a heavily traveled path/intersection.
