I ran into Michael Butler in the parking lot today. As we headed down the
trail we were greeted by a chorus of Coyote howls. We saw many of the same
birds as Patricia and Dennis and saw PATRICIA and DENNIS but certainly
weren't as diligent with craning our necks as they seemed to be. We found a
male Blackheaded GROSBEAK singing near it's nest in a tree next to the
trail . The female flew out and it flew in, still singing away. We also saw
a PHAINOPEPLA, FOX SPARROW, SWAINSON'S THRUSH, an a SHARPSHINNED HAWK. I
saw a CHIPPING SPARROW and near the parking lot was a perching RED
    SHOULDERED HAWK.
