In Carmel Valley, I had confirmed bobcat and golden eagle kills, and some very probable mountain
lion kills. I wouldn't rule out fox or coyote as well, especially on incubating females. Bobcat
and mountain lions tended to stash their carcasses in a bush or cover it with leaves (made it a
bit scary to have to plunge headfirst into the understory to pilfer a mountain lion's cache in
order to retrieve the radiotransmitter). You might see fewer cat kills than you'd expect, although
there would sometimes be a smear of feathers where the kill was made.
