    Hi again, folks.
I was pleased to spot 2 adult golden eagles on Round
Top this morning (Friday, 3/25), one surveying the
territory from a snag, the other in the nest. The
light was such--and my binocs kept fogging--that I
couldn't quite tell if I was seeing just the parent or
if there was a chick in the nest, too.
I promise you all that I won't flood your mailboxes
with eagle messages this year. But it was nice to our
old friends back at the nest.
It was a relatively quick trip, so I didn't manage
to see too many other species. (It doesn't help that
I've lost the hearing of bird call frequencies in one
of my ears. It's a lot harder to find the source of a
call by using a "radar sweep" with one ear.) I did see
    a spotted towhee singing away, a ruby-crowned
kinglet--with the crown showing!--a western bluebird,
and some warblers--I think--flitting through the pines
and heard a number of hummers.
There was also a small empty nest in brush near the
road--don't know who it belonged to.
    Happy birding--and Easter.
