Those of us who bird regularly at Sibley may not be aware of the plans =
that East Bay Regional Park District has already in place for this =
Preserve. The recent Sierra Club newspaper detailed the District's =
proposal to turn the quarry into a 300-person camping facility with 60 =
parking spaces accessible only with a 3/4 mile drive through the =
    Preserve.

The District has prepared a brief Mitigated Neg Dec stating impacts on =
wildlife can't be determined. The Caldecott Wildlife Corridor Study =
recommends removing even the existing staging area at the entrance of =
Sibley. Any further development in the Preserve would have a heavy =
impact on all wildlife, large birds of prey particularly.

Contacting your EBRPD director with your views on this proposal may well =
be critical to the future of Sibley.
