yes, it is so about the hummingbird nest. The nest is designed, it seems, to
expand as the babies grow. I think it has to with providing the maximum
insulation for the nestlings. by the time they leave the nest the poor nest looks
somewhat like an old pair of socks, stretched out beyond use. It certainly is a
welcome harbinger of spring to have them already making families. Here in El
cerrito, I have been feeding a colony of Anna's all winter. Ouside of our deck
we have two feeders a quart and an 8 ounce. usually at sunset they are the
most actice and we can even in January have as many as 6 at a time at the
feeders. With scads more whizzing about.
