Finally I got a small flock, about a dozen or so, of pine siskins in my
backyard in northwest Walnut Creek. Rather than going to my sock thistle
feeder with the lesser goldfinches, they congregated in my 10x10 hanging
platform feeder, where they packed themselves in like sardines! The feeder
was wall-to-wall pine siskins. I have a "Western" seed mix in that feeder
and it surprised me that this mix attracted them. I don't know how they
were able to feed, but they stayed long enough for me to ID them and then
left.
