The pine siskins, here for at least two weeks now, have finally met their
match: a pink-sided Oregon Junco or Slate-Colored Junco(?) that won't stand
for any shenanigans. The siskins know it, too: they perch meekly on the
opposite side of the feeder waiting to be frightened away.
The feeding order has been comfortably established: large groups of lesser
goldfinch take their meal early in the day to avoid the late-coming siskins
and juncos. fighting it out amongst each other. In the background,
non-feeder birds American Robins have been here for a couple of weeks.
