Today at my feeder in Orinda I saw what looked to me to be a female
Rose-breasted Grosbeak. I've only had Grosbeaks at my feeder on a couple of previous
occasions and then it was clear that they were Black-headed Grosbeaks. This
one looked at first to be a finch, but it was bigger and so I got my
binoculars out. With binoculars I saw the distinctive head striping, a uniformly
pink/flesh colored beak and a heavily streaked white breast. I didn't notice
any orange or buff on the breast and the streaking was very obvious and not
washed out. I watched the bird for about a half hour before it flew into a
    pine tree and didn't return.

I also saw a Bewick's Wren today for the first time at a feeder I've filled
    with bugs and such.
