    Hi all,
This morning I birded east Contra Costa County with Frances Oliver until 8 am
when we met up with Jimm Edgar and Don Lewis to do some CBC scouting.
At Marsh Creek Res. there was an Osprey (surprisingly unusual there) and four
Tree Swallows, along with many Common Moorhens and Common Goldeneyes.
On Creek Rd. off of Concord Ave. were two Black-throated Gray Warblers and a
Chipping Sparrow, each very rare in the county in winter (though each has
wintered at this spot at least once before.
Two Caspian Terns were at Holland Tract early in the morning. I don't believe
that there were any previous December records for the county, or November for
that matter. Most are gone by Ootober. Several Cattle Egrets were flyovers
    there as well.
At Clifton Court Forebay there were thousands of birds but a foggy haze
hampered visibility. We did pick out 9+ Redheads and a female Red-breasted
    Merganser.
    Good birding,
