For the past month, or more, a bird has been calling, practically
non-stop, all night long. The call is a single clear slightly
descending whistle. Sometimes, I think I hear a low chuff just before
the whistle. This is in a little canyon in the Oakland Hills, just
south of Knowland Park. Could it possibly be a Poor-will? I have never
seen them mentioned in our Listserve. I've been here 5 years and this
is the first time I have heard it.
Any ideas?
