Saturday evening (10/9), I spent a couple hours strolling around mitigation
marsh and arrowhead marsh at MLK Jr. Regional Shoreline. Best birds in my
opinion were SAY'S PHOEE and LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE along the trail traversing
the south end of park next to the airport parking lot. I got just quick
looks at 6 WILSON'S SNIPES flushing from the marsh.

You know you're at a great spot when Clapper Rails just get tallied among
    "the usual suspects."

No sign of Burrowing Owl, despite fairly careful search all around the
upland portion of mitigation marsh. The berm where it was hanging out last
spring is now covered in fairly tall grass. The jackrabbits keep some parts
grazed bare and leave other parts uneaten. Different grass species or do
they consciously preserve some patches to provide cover? Probably a third
    explanation.

BTW, I've had a NASHVILLE WARBLER hanging around the bottlebrush tree in my
    backyard since Oct. 3.
