Last Sunday morning (Aug. 1st), as I drove past McNabby Marsh (along 680 in
Martinez), I noticed that this march was bone dry--the clay throughout the
marsh was cracked--indicating that this march has been dry for a number of
days. Does anyone know what the "story" is behind this? Does the bridge
contruction have any thing to do with this? In my several years of birding at
this great spot, I've never seen this marsh completely dry. I am interested
in taking follow-up action with this issue when I return from my
teaching/research trip this week at the Sagehen Creek Field Station. Any
information any of you know about this would be most helpful. Thanks--and
    good birding--Ted Robertson--
