I made about a 1-hour bike ride around Heather Farm Park in Walnut Creek
this AM. I saw the continuing White-throated Sparrow, but did not see the
female Greater Scaup which has been here quite a while. In addition, I
found a second Bushtit nest under construction in the pine trees on the west
side of the equestrian area parking lot.

I rode west along the Contra Costa Canal as far as the little orchard near
Cherry Lane. I found no birds there, but did see a Clliff Swallow flying
high over the creek as I returned. This is about 1/4 mile west of the north
entrance of Heather Farm Park and below the hilltop buildings of the Seven
Hills School. The swallows nest under the pedestrian bridge every year.
