I started this morning birding at Doyle-Hollis Park in Emeryville. Found the Palm Warbler rather quickly this morning (my third try for this bird). It was in the first flowing tree on 62nd near Doyle ST. with a half dozen Yellow-rumped Warblers. I then walked over to Heritage Square on Hollis between 59th and 61st streets (thanks for the directions Kirk) and found the Black-throated Gray Warbler and the Orange-crowned Warbler in the parking lot off Hollis.

I then went to Aquatic Park in Berkeley. As I drove past the southern most pond I notice the city or park service had made some changes to the corner of the pond. I went over to the NE corner of the pond and saw that they had cleared some of the trees back and blocked the trails leading into the area where the homeless had been living. Didn't seem to be anybody there now. I pished for the hopes of finding a Fox Sparrow which I've had there before. I didn't get a Fox Sparrow but the second bird to appear after a Song Sparrow jumped up was the Northern Waterthrush. So yes, it's still there. Not sure how many years it has now wintered here.

Later I added a Townsend's Warbler in the pine trees near the Berkeley pier and also had a White-throated Sparrow in the sparrow flock that feeds under the three trees in the little trianglar area near the base of the pier (SW corner of the intersection). The flock is not always there though.

A six warbler day. Not bad for a cold and windy February morning.
