This morning I had a 6-Sparrow Day while riding my bike through Heather Farm
Park and along the Contra Costa Canal bike trail in Walnut Creek. At least
one Song Sparrow was singing alongside the big pond, near the south end of
the equestrian area were the continuing White-crowned, Golden-crowned and
White-throated Sparrows, and at the northeast corner near the little chain
gate across the maintenance road I found the Fox Sparrow.

While looking for the Black-throated Gray Warbler in the little orchard
along the bike trail near Cherry Lane, I heard a loud chip across the canal.
A very cooperative Lincoln's Sparrow was moving along the fence line there.
A minute or two later the Black-throated Gray Warbler was also seen on the
piles of leafy mulch at the bases of the small orchard trees.

The female Anna's Hummingbird survived the rainy night and was on her nest
at the northwest corner of the big pond.
