Poppies and magnolias are in bloom at Coyote Hills!

On the hillside above the Quarry parking lot, the partially leucistic GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW originally reported by Kathy Robertson popped out of the flock and onto a limb, and for once, I had my camera. I took photos (not saying they're good photos).

A bright male NUTTALL'S WOODPECKER trilled from a ground-level perch in a coyote bush on the hillside trail above Quarry.?

After some searching, I found two continuing BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHERS on the trail from Quarry parking lot to the bay, on the hillside above the "Dogs on Leash" sign just past the small marsh on the right side of that trail.?A LINCOLN'S SPARROW was in a tree on the trail closer to the parking lot.

A COMMON MOORHEN was in the pond nearest Quarry.

In the nectar garden, two ALLEN'S HUMMINGBIRDS enjoyed the bird bath.? I heard two other selasphorous hummingbirds in the visitor center area.

Two FOX SPARROWS kicked around on the ground in the garden.

Between 1:30 and 2:00 PM, a GREAT HORNED OWL hooted low and steadily from the hillside above hoot hollow, "who WHO whooo whooo". The unseen bird was in one of the trees above the two huge bare trees on the hillside.?
