[EBB Sightings] BELATED PILEATED WOODPECKER REPORT

I learned yesterday about a mid-November 2009 sighting of a Pileated
Woodpecker at a location in Redwood Park from which I don't recall any
earlier reports.

The bird was seen at length near the south end of the Stream Trail, near
Redwood Gate at the foot of Redwood Road.   I was told the sighting was
about 300 feet along the trail from the open grassy area at Redwood Gate.

Most earlier sightings have been at higher elevations in the Park and
adjacent or nearly adjacent to Skyline Boulevard or nearby in Joaquin Miller
Park.

For anyone keeping track of sightings, this may be a new location to keep an
eye on.
