One glance at the patches of blue sky this morning, and I was out the
door. When I arrived at Miller/Knox Regional Shoreline, I started by
birding the lagoon and found 7 Red-breasted Mergansers, including 3
gorgeous males, among the other ducks.

As I stood at the southeast side of the lagoon, I heard the buzzy
flight of a Selasphorus hummingbird, which was working the pink-
blossomed acacia trees interspersed among the pines.

I scoped the bayside to see if the storms brought in anything
unusual, but spotted the usual, including Common Loon, Pelagic
Cormorant, and many Horned Grebes, and was happy to see them.
