    Hi all;

    A quick look around Lake Temescal in Oakland between downpours this morning:

    An Orange-crowned Warbler working in the blackberries along the lawn on the east side of the lake. The chip note gave him away.

    A striking male Townsend's Warbler. Could he be the same bird who comes to my feeders? It's only about 1/2 mile as the crow flies.

    Several Yellow-rumped Warblers, all of the Audubon variety

    A Common Yellowthroat, most likely probably a resident bird

    A Belted Kingfisher

    Only Ruddy Ducks, Coots, Mallards, and Pied-billed Grebes on the water

    Directions: From Berkeley, take Tunnel Road south toward Hwy 13; when merging, stay right and take the first exit, Broadway Terrace; turn left, then immediately right into the Temescal parking lot. From points south, take Hwy 13 toward Berkeley; take the Broadway Terrace exit, go left; go under the old rail trestle and take a right into the Temescal parking lot.

    Good birding,
