A persistently singing AMERICAN ROBIN greeted me at Joaquin Miller
Park this morning. I think this is the first determined singer that
I've heard this season. From about 0745-0800, I had several large
flocks of robins flying south overheard (perhaps from a night roost?)
    that totaled about 190 birds.

I'm appreciating the interesting discussion about Tree Swallow
phenology. I don't know too much about it, but a database search on
eBird for Alameda County reveals that Tree Swallows are reported,
although with decreased frequency in the winter, throughout the year.
Barn Swallows also seem to be reported in the winter occasionally, but
there is an almost complete absence of Cliff Swallow, VG Swallow and
NORW Swallow sightings from about Oct-Jan...
