We got a few late Christmas presents today while biking the Iron Horse Trail
    through Dublin:

We saw a pair of Hooded Mergansers in the creek that parallels the trail.
The birds were upstream of the concrete spillway, about 1/2 mile north of
Dublin Blvd. where the creek and trail both fork.

We also saw the more usual habitues there: Mallards, Coots, Common
    Mergansers, and a Kingfisher.

An immature Golden Eagle circled above us where the trail crosses Dublin
Blvd next to Camp Parks and opposite the BART station. A Loggerhead Shrike
perched on the fence in the same spot.

All in all, a very nice bright Christmas day.
