[EBB Sightings] Barrow's Goldeneye x Hooded Merganser Hybrid- pic

Travis Hails pin-pointed our annual visitor yesterday (see his recent post).  I went to the Laney College "Pond" and the east end of the footbridge and there it was!  How often does that happen? 

The views of the bird hardly need binoculars. I was within ten feet of it several times and it was not bothered.  It's hanging out with Common Goldeneyes.

In this "artsy" picture it had just come up from a feeding dive.  The broken gold of the water is a reflected autumn tree.

I did find free parking on East 8th Street. Students come and go and eventually there is a space. Go!
