[EBB Sightings] Oakland airport shooting birds

Dear Birders:

Many of you may know by now (I received a google alert from EBRP yesterday) that the Oakland airport personnel have chosen to shoot a number of birds, including brown pelicans and cormorants that were feeding in the water near the end of the runway.  The situation first came to light when dead birds began washing up on the San Leandro shoreline.  We need to know many things -- most important were other methods of disbursement tried consistently before choosing this method?  I have notified GGAS.
