Today I had my first opportunity to bird this newly dedicated trail in Pleasanton. Among the nice sightings among the 24 species seen were a Myrtle-race Yellow-rumped Warbler, Western Bluebirds and a juvenile Sharp-shinned Hawk. There were also at least a dozen Acorn Woodpeckers.

This trail is on West Lagoon Road which is off of Bernal Avenue. From Highway 680 take the Bernal Avenue exit and go west to West Lagoon Road. Turn left on West Lagoon Road and the trailhead parking area will be on your right. The address is 3200 West Lagoon Road. This is a flat, black-topped trail that is a very easy walk. It takes you to the Pleasanton Detention Ponds on the east side of Highway 680.
