I decided to bird the Jewell Lake area this Thanksgiving morning thinking everyone would be sleeping, watching football, cooking or out of town and it would be quiet. Boy was I wrong although there were no staff running lawn mowers, weed wackers etc. my all too common Regional Park experience. I found a lone white striped White-throated Sparrow on the upper packrat trail. A pair of Fox Sparrows were chipping away in Towhee fashion as they moved about. Of course Cal and Spotted Towhees but surprisingly no crowned sparrows. No warblers not even Yellow-rumped. Also seen were a Varied Thrush, a few Hermit Thrushes and a Wrentit.

Mammal wise a Blacktailed Deer family- mamma, 2 younguns and a 4 point Buck. Not to be missed are 7 cute as can be very young piglets (think miniture Babes) at the Little Farm. According to the sign they grow fast though.
