At 8:45 AM this morning just south of Lake Anza in Tilden Park, I spotted
in a mixed-flock of birds, a WINTER WREN and at least 4 GOLDEN-CROWNED
KINGLETS with a flock also containing CHICKADEES, BEWICK'S WREN,
RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET, BROWN CREEPER, and JUNCOS. The exact location was
along the Selby Trail, about 500 yds. south of Lake Anza along the portion
of the trail that makes a sharp dip and becomes muddy, between a red
leaved plum on the north and south of where 4" to 6" light cobbles cross
the trail perpendicularly. Lake Anza had 3 male BUFFLEHEADS and a pair of
RING-NECKED DUCKS and a very noisy BELTED KINGFISHER.
