Took a day off to go birding for the first time in ages. Stopped briefly at
D'Anna Yacht Harbor in Oakland to visit the continuing PALM WARBLER, then on
to San Leandro Marina to scope the scoters. No White-winged among them that
    I could see.

Hayward Regional Shoreline at Winton Avenue had several interesting birds.
Several hundred Canada Geese were grazing on Mount Trashmore and I'd
estimate that 20% of them were CACKLING GEESE--Aleutians, judging by the
prominent white collars and relatively pale breasts. You can judge for
yourself in my photo album at
    http://picasaweb.google.com/cathrasher4/20091121.

Also on Mt Trashmore a single HORNED LARK. In keeping with a recent theme of
ROCK WRENS at bayside locations, I found one in the big shrub at Hayward's
    Landing.

There must have been 300 RED KNOTS tucked in among the Marbled Godwits and
    Willets at Frank's Dump.

I stayed until sundown to watch for Short-eared Owls but no luck there.
