Today, at 8 a.m. with Vern Bothwell, and again at 4:30 p.m. with my wife Adele and daughter Lisa Clowdus, I saw an adult female Yellow-headed Blackbird on the south side of the Highway 580/El Charro Road interchange in Livermore Valley. She was feeding with a flock of Red-winged Blackbirds, on seeds in the rolls of straw put there for erosion control.

Since I started birding in about 1970, I had only seen seven Yellow-headed Blackbirds in Livermore valley.

Further south on El Charro Road, Vern and I saw four White-fronted Geese, and an apparent hybrid Canada Goose, with a white chinstrap, white forehead, pinkish bill, orange legs, and the body and tail plumage of a Canada Goose.
