During an afternoon visit to Contra Loma Regional Park in Antioch, I
had excellent views of both a Sora and a Virginia Rail. Both birds
were within twenty-five feet. The Sora was gleaning duckweed from
    the surface of the water.

In addition, I observed the following species:

    Canada Goose
    Mallard
    Pied-billed Grebe
    Double-crested Cormorant
    Great Blue Heron
    Great Egret
    Green Heron
    Turkey Vulture
    Red-tailed Hawk
    American Kestrel
    Common Moorhen
    Ring-billed Gull
    Barn Owl
    Belted Kingfisher
    Nuttall's Woodpecker
    Pacific-slope Flycatcher
    Black Phoebe
    Say's Phoebe
    Western Scrub-Jay
    American Crow
    Bushtit
    White-breasted Nuthatch
    Ruby-crowned Kinglet
    Western Bluebird
    Hermit Thrush (FOS)
    Orange-crowned Warbler
    Yellow-rumped Warbler
    Savannah Sparrow
    Song Sparrow
    White-crowned Sparrow
    Golden-crowned Sparrow
    Red-winged Blackbird
    Western Meadowlark

    Good Birding,
