I birded a short loop at the park, starting early this morning at the
visitor center and ambling along the grasslands and through the
marsh. I heard the Virginia Rails in the dense reeds along the
channel that flows into North Marsh. I kept moving my position to
confirm that there were two birds. They vocalized off and on for
    nearly fifteen minutes.

I also heard and saw the Swainson's Thrush reported by Kathy
Robertson on 9/5. It was in the plantings to the right of the entry.
And like Stephanie Floyd, who reported for 9/4, I saw and heard
    numerous Killdeer on the mudflats.

Migrant activity was low, but I did end the morning with 44 species,
including my FOS Cedar Waxwings, several individuals that flew over
the visitor center, never to be seen again.
