    Richmond to Berkeley on the SF Bay Trail, Bicycle Trip
    Saturday, August 15, 2009
    A Clapper Rail was the star of the morning for our group of
    11. It was seen on the east side of the SF Bay Trail just north of S. 51st
    Street (Meeker Slough area.) Returnees/birds in migration included Western
    Sandpipers, Black-bellied Plovers, Semipalmated Plovers and Whimbrels. Another
    hot spot was between Central and Buchanan where large numbers of birds were on
    the mudflats.  36 species seen. Kathy Jarrett
