This morning, the little blue heron continued on Alameda Creek in the quarter-mile stretch between the Old Canyon and Mission bridges as described by Charlotte Allen yesterday. This area is about a five-minute walk from the Niles Staging Area. Out of about ten visits, including a two-mile walk out of Isherwood last night, this was only the second time I've actually found the bird. The bird was much less flighty in this section where the creek is wide, and it was feeding well as it walked upstream in the current. The water level is much higher now farther west on the creek in the area of Niles Community Park, and the little rocky waterfalls the bird favored a few weeks ago are now underwater. I watched the bird this morning for about twenty minutes, and it was still there with other birders admiring it when I left at 11:30. I snapped a few photos (link below) despite being rather far away for handheld zooming.
