I posted a while ago about some feisty Killdeer in the Kaiser Permanente parking lot. Since then, one killdeer has been sitting in a little depression daily, while the other lurks by, ready at the other's call. Well today, we have noted 3 Killdeer babies where eggs used to be, with a fourth supposedly moving about. There is another unhatched egg. The babies form a nice compact triangle with each looking out. Needless to say, the approach of curious onlookers provoked some angry gesticulations and more tail fanning from the parents, so we all retreated.

The location is the staff parking lot of Kaiser, which is on Pinole Valley Road on the west side of the freeway. This lot is separated from the facility by a walkway through some trees in roughly the northwesterly direction. If you're driving, you turn right on a residential street after you've passed the facility. There is one center island in the parking lot, which is landscaped with wood chips and some small flowering shrubs. The birds are close to the freeway side of this "island", on the clinic side of a stone lined channel.
