Yesterday I learned of the presence of a singing MacGillivray's Warbler
along the Graham Trail in Redwood Regional Park, so this morning I decided
to check it out. It sang repeatedly and was often visible in the area of
the Graham Trail and a small trail leading to/from Roberts Regional
Recreation Area. I even called Jean Richmond at home and let her hear it
over my cell phone. She said she would not be able to count it on her year
    list, though.

This spot is most easily reached from the Roberts Regional Recreation Area
(entry fee $5), located off Skyline Boulevard slightly north of Joaquin
Miller Road. After passing the kiosk, drive to the far end of the parking
lot, and continue to the lower parking lot. Park immediately on the left
and take the trail downhill from this corner, a less than 75 yard walk to
the Graham Trail. The MacGillivray's Warbler might even be heard from the
    parking lot before walking.

Also in this area were a Pacific-slope Flycatcher, Wilson's Warbler, Song
Sparrow and Wrentit. Beyond the swimming pool and near the park
residence/office were a Brown Creeper, another Pacific-slope Flycatcher, and
on another connection to the Graham Trail was a Varied Thrush. Seems pretty
late, but I wonder if they didn't stay year-round before the redwoods were
logged so heavily between 1840 and 1860.

Thanks for the warbler, Ken and Stephanie.
