My wife and I took a mid-afternoon Mothers' Day hike in Wildcat Canyon
RP: down Rifle Range Rd Trail and into the grasslands to the north.
Grasshopper Sparrows were as numerous as I've ever seen or heard them
there. We saw four singing males and heard perhaps an equal number
that remained invisible -- all within perhaps an hour and a half. Two
of the songs included high jumbled notes following what I think of as
the usual "click-bzzzzz". Also notable among forty or so species for
the afternoon were several Lazuli Buntings and W. Bluebirds, and a
    lone Lark Sparrow.
