Birding with Bingham and Larry Gibbs and Janet Goodman today in Mitchell Canyon we found a singing Yellow-breasted Chat along the creek about 100 yards before Red Road trail. We first heard it singing along the creek while we where on the Lily Globe Trail around 10am. We were able to refind it, getting fleeting glimpses, around 1pm while we were on the main trail along the creek on our way back to the parking lot. We spent about a half hour listening to it sing while trying for those fleeting glimpses. We also had Townsend's, Hermit and Black-throated Gray Warblers, Western Tanager, Rufous and Calliope Hummingbirds and Blue-Gray Gnatcatchers along the Lily Globe Trail. Along the main creek trail (not sure of it's proper name) we also had Nashville and MacGillivray's Warblers, Warbling, Cassin's and Hutton's Vireos, and many Lazuli Buntings. A Golden Eagle soared overhead. Many Pacific-sloped Flycatchers and a singing California Thrasher along the Red Road trail. We had an Olive-sided Flycatcher and White-throated Swifts at the parking lot.
