Considering the extensive spread of Wild Turkeys in the East Bay, I
don't suppose the Contra Costa Breeding Bird Atlas much resembles the
state of the bird. It doesn't show turkeys breeding in Pinole, but
    that was many turkeys ago.

For what it's worth, this afternoon (Thurs, May 28), we saw a
half-size fuzzy-white-headed turkey chick on the path at San Pablo
Bay Regional Shoreline in Pinole. Two adult birds came running when
the chick started peeping and herded it back into the brush.

Before January, 2008, I had never seen a Wild Turkey in the East
Bay. Nowadays, I see (or at least hear) them at most of the local
regional parks (Sobrante Ridge RP, Pt Pinole RS, Carquinez Strait RS,
and now San Pablo Bay RS).

    Good birding,
