While on a three-day trip to Reno on the Snow Train, I received a report of
Barn Swallow sightings in Heather Farm Park from Fred Safier. He often sees
things here before I do. This morning I biked through the park and found
one of his swallows flying over the mostly natural large pond. There are
quite a few of the Northern Rough-winged Swallows here also, and one must be
careful sorting them. It took me a good 5 minutes of following the
Rough-wingeds before I finally found the one Barn Swallow which I saw.

There was also a Fox Sparrow along the southwest edge of the pond making
some starting attempts at its spring song, not unlike the Ruby-crowned
Kinglets which are also making beginning attempts at their songs.
