[EBB Sightings] American Bittern at Contra Loma Regional Park, Antioch

Greetings,

This afternoon between 1:00 and 1:40 we observed an American Bittern  
at Contra Loma Regional Park.  The lighting was great and we watched  
the bird stalk and finally snatch a perch-type fish.  The bird was  
located on the west side of Loma Island and we observed it from the  
opposite shore below the Channel Point parking lot.   While observing  
the bittern, a Virginia Rail came out of the reeds and fed also.  In  
addition, a Burrowing Owl was observed below the entrance sign just  
before you turn right from Frederickson Lane onto the entry road into  
the park.  The location of this bird was previously reported to us by  
Joel Summerhill and Gloria Cannon.
