    Alex and all,
A, or quite possibly the, male Harlequin Duck has been in the area year round for well over a decade. For much of the time there has also been a female present. Although it is sometimes seen inside the marina or on the water close to shore, it has traditionally been found far more often loafing on the shore of Brooks Island or swimming just offshore. This is a fair distance from the harbor and a good scope is needed. And even with a good scope conditions need to be pretty good. The best spot for it when it is loafing on the island is just left of the dilapidated old pier. If I am picturing it correctly this is a bit to the right of the residence and left of a big rock. Sometimes there is also a Long-tailed Duck or two loafing there and that species has summered as well.
    Hope this helps,
    Steve Glover
