Yesterday afternoon, Jan.30, between 3 and 4 p.m. I saw what I took to be a male Allen's Hummingbird perching on some Scotch Broom along the Richmond Bay Trail behind the Marina Bay Condos.? When I got home and looked in Sibley it showed that a small percent of Rufous Hummingbirds have green on their back as?did this bird, which had a rufous front and rump.? ?In addition it flashed the most amazing organgy-red neck colors when in flight.?
    ?
Also seen in the same location Fox Sparrow, Hermit Thrush and Townsend Warbler in addition to many Yellow Rumped Warblers.
    ?
Directions: From 580 heading West, take Marina Bay Parkway exit; at end of ramp make a left back over freeway and continue on Marina Bay Parkway, crossing Regatta Blvd.? Make a left on to Bayside, a dead end street.? Park at end, walk through trees and you come to Meeker Slough.? Walk left and continue along path behind condos.? Just before the condos end, on your right between the tall eucalyptus there is a fallen down tree with lots of willow and other broken down shrubs over a stream.? The hummer was on the far side among the yellow broom flowers.? It also came and perched above my head in the eucalyptus.
