    >From the Bridle Trail along Redwood Creek in Redwood Regional Park on
Tuesday afternoon, I saw about a dozen VARIED THRUSHES and heard maybe two
dozen more calling. Struck by these numbers (by far a personal high for
me), I checked eBird and found that the high count for this species in
Alameda County is 100, tallied just a couple of winters ago in this same
    park, by Richard Cimino. Wow!

Nearly equally impressive to me was the spectacle of a couple dozen COMMON
RAVENS engaging in dazzling aerobatics far overhead, and later, toward
dusk, at least 85 ravens streaming in to roost in a grove of tall
redwoods. This was also a personal high count for me, anywhere.

I thank you for your patience if these numbers are more ordinary to you
    than they seemed to me.
