    Hi EB Birders:

Today Barbara and I decided to go on one final 2008 Mines Rd. birding
outing. We were rewarded with reasonably good looks at a Greater
Roadrunner. Barbara found it while scanning north from the side of
the road at MP 9.38. It was 50-100 yards directly up slope of MP
9.30. First seen at 10:45am, it was still there when we left at noon,
A few fuzzy digiscoped photos are here: http://tinyurl.com/9h5hoo

We then visited Dennis Rashe' in Livermore. He and his wife were very
hospitable but no luck with the Harris's Sparrow. Dennis said we are
only the second group to miss the bird.

On the way home we looked for a few more Alameda County year birds for
Barbara; although once again missing the Palm Warbler at Estuary Park,
we did see numerous Snowy Plovers at Don Edwards NWR adjacent to Lamb
Research. These birds were reported on the Hayward CBC held 12/14.
Take Fremont Blvd south and then Cushing Pkwy west to the one little
parking space next to the refuge trail gate on the south side of the
road, adj. to Lamb Research. Many Snowy plovers were seen in the
saltcrust looking south over the refuge just after the first turn in
    the trail.

    Good birding.
