Several of us were out in East County working on our year lists yesterday.
Eugenia Larson and I birded Jersey Island Road, Bethel Island, Holland
Tract, Orwood Road, Discovery Bay, Clifton Court and Byron Hot Springs Road.

Our biggest finds were as follows: Some flying Tundra Swans north of the
town of Bethel Island. The swans were flying south. On Holland Tract we
had about 100 Sandhhill Cranes. Orwood Road, Discovery Bay and Clifton
Court were relatively quiet. On Byron Hot Springs Road, south of Holey Road
and the Byron Airport, we had 3 Rough-legged Hawks, one with prey. It was
chased by the other two Rough-legged Hawks, a Red-tailed Hawk and 2 Ravens.
a couple of coyotes were also involved in the chase. As we were leaving, we
found a Ferruginous Hawk just before the road straightens out to a
north-south direction. This was between 2:30 and 3 PM.

Jean Richmond started with her friends at Patterson Pass, where they had a
couple of Mt. Bluebirds on the east side in the wind farm area. They did
not find any raptors on Byron Hot Springs Road before lunch. They did see
the continuing Lewis' Woodpecker at the intersection of Marsh Creek Road and
    Camino Diablo.

Continuing into Solano County, they finally found a couple of Mt. Plovers
south of Flannery Road and west of the large high-voltage lines. This is in
    a freshly plowed field.
