Today Liz West and I birded around the Eastern part of Contra Costa Co.
Highlights included:
 
Marsh Creek Rd -  A LEWIS WOODPECKER & a MERLIN flyover at Marsh Creek
Reservoir. 
 
Intersection of Marsh Creek & Camino Diablo -  a LEWIS' WOODPECKERS in the
dead tree.
 
Los Vaqueros Reservoir area - 2 GOLDEN EAGLES over the entrance Kiosk.
 
Byron Hot Springs Rd/Holey Rd - 4 FERRUGINOUS HAWKS (1 flying and the others
standing out in the fields), over 50 LONG-BILLED CURLEWS, 2 more GOLDEN
EAGLES and a VESPER SPARROW (almost at the end of Byron Hot Springs Rd).
 
Holland Tract Rd - 100 SANDHILL CRANES on the N side of the road.
 
Jersey Island Rd - 2 more FERRUGINOUS HAWKS & a PRAIRIE FALCON.
 
Cypress Rd - a flock of  25 LONG-BILLED CURLEWS bathing  in some puddles.
 
Lots of Kestrels & RT Hawks as well.
